Acer palmatum Hime ha uchiwa

£50.00

Hime ha uchiwa translates to “Princess leaf fan”, reflecting the tree’s refined beauty and intricate leaf shape. Originated in Japan, where acers have been cultivated for centuries as a symbol of elegance and tranquillity in traditional gardens. As a dwarf variety it is prized by bonsai enthusiasts for its compact size and graceful growth habit. This maple is a matsumurae with circular leaves, 9 to 11 lobes, divided lobes but only half way to the leaf base, and serrated edges. Very close to resembling a japonicum with full moon type of leaves, but the more delicate features of the lobes definitely aligns it with the matsumurae group. It emerges bright green in spring and turns to a fiery mix of orange red and yellow in autumn. In summer the green hue is lush and rich. It grows to 1.5 meters and prefers a partial shade location, although will tolerate a sunny position if harsh afternoon sun is avoided.
